Paintings for the Enchantment of the Seas

For the extension of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship - Enchantment of the Seas, two paintings were needed for the restaurant "Chops". Both of "up-close roses".

The Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Ship - Enchantment is undergoing a major refurbishment (June 2005), which includes a 73ft. extension. Actually the whole ship will be cut in half, and then a prefabricated middle section will be joined in the middle. This is an amazing feat and it is a project that is really exciting to be a part of. The designers from Royal Caribbean, found some samples of the artwork and liked what they saw. For the specialty restaurant "Chops" they were seeking one large painting by the entrance and one smaller by inside the restaurant. Via the art consultant Nicola Elstone, the project was started swiftly. With less than one month to complete the paintings it proved to be a major task.

The sheer size of the large painting  required specialty framing, which was so large that it has to be assembled on the spot and not possible to move during or after the process. Specialty Fredrix canvas was acquired, and the painting began. There were no problems during the completion of the paintings, and it was finished on time. After the varnish, the paintings were rolled, packed and shipped to London where the small painting was framed. Both paintings were then sent to the Shipyard in Rotterdam Holland, where they will be installed.
